We're really pleased to be launching a brand new initiative at the Centre, Doggy Day Out.
This programme gives some of our dogs the opportunity to spend a full day out of the kennels, enjoying new environments, building confidence and giving us valuable insight into how they cope outside of the Centre. It's a simple idea, but one that can make a meaningful difference to a dog's wellbeing and their journey towards rehoming.
It's also something that can be really rewarding for people. If you miss having a dog in your life, aren't in a position to have one of your own, or would simply enjoy some canine company for the day, this offers a lovely way to spend time with a dog while making a genuine difference.
Why Doggy Day Out matters

How it works
Every dog is carefully assessed, and every outing is fully supported.
Assessment
Each dog is carefully assessed by the team. Only those who are ready and would benefit from the experience take part.
Call ahead
If you have a free day and would like to take a dog out, call the Centre at least 24 hours in advance.
Finding a match
The team will let you know if there is a suitable dog available and carefully match you to ensure a safe, positive experience.
Collection
If a match is confirmed, you'll arrange a time to come in and collect your dog for the day, with everything in place and ready to go.
Kitted out
Adoptable dogs will head out with an 'Adopt Me' lead cover and a Doggy Day Out backpack with everything needed for the day.
Enjoy your day
Spend the day exploring, relaxing or adventuring together, then bring your dog back to the Centre at the agreed time.
Please note: there may be times when no dogs are available for outings, depending on individual needs and who is at the Centre at the time. If this is the case, the team will let you know when you call.

Things to know before you book
- Give us 24 hours' notice. This allows the team time to check which dogs are ready for a day out and prepare everything you'll need.
- Availability varies. Not every dog is suitable on every day, and there may be times when no dogs are available for outings.
- Everything is provided for adoptable dogs. Adoptable dogs will come with an 'Adopt Me' lead cover and a Doggy Day Out backpack packed with everything needed.
- No experience needed. Whether you're missing having a dog around or just fancy some canine company, the team will match you with a dog suited to your day.
- Right to cancel. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a Doggy Day Out at short notice for safety or operational reasons, such as extreme weather conditions.
